Privacy policy

01. Scope

This policy covers the MINEMUSE iOS app and this website, provided by the MINEMUSE developer. Available features may vary by version.

No separate MINEMUSE account is required. This website has no account registration, mailing list or diagnostic upload form. Contact: hangshi97@gmail.com.

02. Data on your device

Audio files you choose and their song information are used for your local library, playback and display. Imported audio is copied into the app’s storage. Playlists, queues, playback recovery, visual and language preferences, added lyrics and lyrics timing settings are kept on the device.

Readable audio is analyzed on the device to drive visuals. Visualization does not upload audio files to the developer. Some effects use device gravity data locally. System backups and file-provider synchronization are controlled by iOS, iCloud or the relevant service.

For local music, the app uses embedded artwork first. When no suitable artwork is available, it may automatically query Apple iTunes Search using track information such as the title and artist. If suitable tags are missing, query text may also be derived from the imported file's name. The request includes a region code used for the search, and Apple receives connection information such as your IP address. Audio files, full file paths and audio content are not sent for this lookup.

Results are strictly matched against track information. Matching results are cached on the device. When offline or no suitable match is found, an abstract fabric image is shown. Use local music offline if you do not want artwork queries sent. Apple handles these requests under its privacy policy.

03. Apple Music and purchases

Connecting Apple Music or the system music library requires system authorization. Apple handles related online music, artwork, authorization and subscription requests under its policies. MINEMUSE does not receive your Apple account password.

When you use music search, the query you enter is sent to Apple through MusicKit to return song search results. A search may start automatically after you pause typing, without pressing the search key. Apple processes these queries under its privacy policy.

MINEMUSE 1.0 supports unlocking paid themes through Apple In-App Purchase and restoring purchased access. Available products, prices and availability depend on what is shown in the app and the App Store. Apple handles payments, transactions and purchase restoration. The app verifies purchase results on the device to unlock features and does not receive your card number. Temporary access in a test version does not count as a purchase.

04. Online lyrics

The app first checks lyrics you provide, lyrics embedded in audio files, associated local lyrics and available music library lyrics. When an online match is needed, it sends the title, artist and, as needed for matching, album or duration to LRCLIB. For supported playback sources, the fallback service lyrics.ovh receives the title and artist. For imported local audio, online lyrics lookup uses only validated track tags and duration, not the file name or full file path, and does not fall back to lyrics.ovh. These requests do not send audio files or microphone audio.

Service providers receive connection information needed to process network requests, such as your IP address and the app's generic request identifier, and may retain queries or technical records to provide and protect their services. We have not obtained a commitment from either hosted service to delete production request logs within a fixed period.

The current version has no separate switch for online lyrics lookup, which may run automatically when lyrics are missing. Hiding lyrics does not guarantee that queries will stop. You can use local music offline if you do not want these requests to be sent.

05. Optional ambient listening

Ambient listening is an optional feature. It starts only when you actively enable it and grant microphone permission. You can control it from the home screen and immersive player. Audio is analyzed live in memory; microphone audio is not recorded, saved or uploaded.

It captures sounds around your device, not the original Apple Music audio stream. Music inside headphones usually cannot be heard by the microphone. Capture stops when you turn it off, the app goes into the background or an audio interruption occurs. It is off on every cold launch.

You can revoke microphone permission in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security. This does not prevent unrelated local-music features.

06. Contact and diagnostics

When you send email, the developer receives your sender address, message and chosen attachments to respond to and investigate your issue. Email passes through your email provider and the receiving provider, Gmail.

Diagnostic reports are generated on the device when requested. They may contain app and system versions, device model, thermal and low-power status, theme and quality settings, playback position and state, queue size, audio analysis state, limited performance information, recent error types and codes, and notes you choose to provide. Reports may also include audio input and output types, sample rate and system-reported audio latency to investigate playback or ambient-listening issues. When a report is sent by email, the developer can associate the attachment with the sender's email address.

Store-loading diagnostics may also include the request time, duration, requested in-app product identifiers, identifiers the app recognizes as available or missing, loading status, and error categories and codes. This part does not contain Apple account details, payment details, receipts or transaction records.

Current reports do not automatically attach audio, your full library, song names, file paths, passwords or credentials. Your description and other attachments may contain personal information; review them before sending.

Generating a report does not upload it. You must confirm sending in the system email screen or choose a sharing method yourself. This website has no automatic diagnostic collection backend.

07. Website visits

This website provides product, privacy and support information. Your selected display language may be stored locally in your browser to remember your preference.

This website is operated by the developer and hosted on Tencent Cloud servers in Beijing, China. When you visit, the website server and cloud services may process technical information such as your IP address, request time, requested path, response status and browser to deliver pages, maintain availability and protect security. This information is not used for advertising profiles. Relevant logs are retained only for as long as necessary for operations, security and applicable legal requirements. Email links open your email app. When you visit Apple services, Apple handles the related data under its privacy policy.

08. Your choices and retention

You can revoke library or microphone permissions in system settings, delete imported items through the app, edit playlists and change preferences. Deleting the app normally removes its local data, but not system backups, source files retained by a file provider or emails already sent. Clear this site’s browser data to remove the saved language preference.

Diagnostic exports are created temporarily in the app cache, and the export flow attempts to clean them up afterwards. Copies you save elsewhere or send are not deleted by the app. Feedback emails and attachments are used for support and necessary follow-up, not advertising. Contact the developer to request access to or deletion of submitted feedback; any legally required retention will be explained in the reply.

Apple, lyrics, hosting and email providers determine their own retention, processing locations and deletion procedures. Requests may involve servers outside your region.
